Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been reporting for over 45 years focusing on the human suffering in war zones and natural disasters. Curry was a reporter for the wars within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Curry is well-known for her reporting of human-rights crises as well as natural disasters particularly in nations which have suffered the effects of the war. Curry was born in Japan, and educated by an Japanese mom. Her father served as an U.S. Navy sailor. Her mother was living with her father in Japan after World War II. Her father was a member of the military and her family moved around often. Curry was a high school graduate at Ashland Oregon. She graduated with a journalism certificate from the University of Oregon in 1978. Curry moved around a lot with her partner but she did not attend an institution for more than two or three years. She attended schools in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. When she was 22, she eventually became the first journalist female for the station. Then she was promoted to anchoring and reporting at KGW which is an affiliate of NBC located in Portland.
